Professional/Bio:

Luke DeBoy’s career as a counselor is deeply rooted in a passion for addictions medicine. From his own experiences to his impressive career in the treatment of co-occurring disorders. He is dedicated to a mission of recovery.

The journey of helping those in the addictions field began well over a decade ago and continued while studying at Salisbury University. During his time there, Luke designed and implemented a substance abuse education and referral program for the student athletics department. Luke’s integrative blend of health sciences, mentorship in experiential therapy and clinically based practices helps him address not only substance concerns and underlying mental health disorders but the treatment of the broader family system.

Luke believes it’s imperative for the recovering client to be an agent of change within their own recovery process. By empowering and leading the clients toward a different perspective, Luke uses his skill set to inspire, create change, and empower in the healthiest way possible.

Luke served as the Clinical Director and Supervisor at Tranquility Woods, designing the clinical program and creating the policies and procedures for the program to become Nationally Certified. Luke’s keen eye for clinical and cultural development, led Tranquility Woods to became nationally ranked in 2020 as the Best Addiction Treatment Center in Maryland. Luke received his Masters as a Clinical Social Worker from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. He received his undergrad in Exercise Sciences through Salisbury University. Luke who is also certified as an alcohol and Drug counselor (CAC-AD), has lectured and presented at conferences, panels, and continuing education events. He has made appearances on television in regards to the current substance use epidemic and made monthly appearances on the radio which provides a platform for anyone with questions about substance abuse. He continues to work with the International Union of Painters and Allied Trades (IUPAT) by revamping and co- teaching their “Training the Trainers” curriculum to help Change the Culture of Construction when it comes to substance use and mental health concerns.

Luke’s professional objective is to continue to expand his career by providing growth and healing for those seeking Mental Health and Substance abuse counseling. He currently lives in Severna Park with his wife, two daughters and their black cat Onyx. Luke enjoys being present with his family and prioritizes work/life harmony.
